It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we acknowledge the martyrdom of Syed Hassan Nasrallah, the esteemed Secretary General of Hezbollah of Lebanon. His unwavering courage not to submit to oppression, occupation, and aggression and the selfless dedication to the principles of justice and freedom inspired countless individuals around the world. Syed Hassan Nasrallah stood for the independence and sovereignty of his own country Lebanon, struggled for the liberation of Palestine and Al Quds, and was a beacon of hope for all oppressed peoples of the world. He exemplified bravery against tyranny even in the face of death and ultimately the supreme sacrifice of life by him, by his daughter, and by many thousands of brave companions has immortalized his memory and his principles. The ECI unequivocally condemns the senseless slaughter carried out by a terrorist entity over the peaceful and innocent civilians of Lebanon, and the ongoing genocide and culturicide in occupied Palestine. Let us honor his legacy by remaining steadfast in our pursuit of peace and advocating for the rights of oppressed, enslaved, or colonized peoples of the world. Let us work together to ensure that any state, entity, or individual involved in the senseless murders is brought to justice under international criminal law. In these trying times, may we unite in our determination to uphold the values of compassion, justice, and resilience that he represented, and work towards a future where justice prevails.
