Iran: The Cradle of Peaceful Religious Co-Existence

Iran is a country with climatic and cultural diversity. Cultural diversity in Iran is to the extent that some cultural experts maintain that it is as vast as that of a continent.
But what is more important than this cultural diversity is peaceful coexistence among these cultures. With the passage of time, Iran has been turned into a cradle of peace, tolerance, interaction and exchange of views and ideas among cultures.
In other words, the culture of this territory is an innovative and intelligent combination of the cultures that have had interaction with Iran. Different religions that have had their followers in this geographical realm have coexisted with each
other in the light of this cultural spirit within the cultural expanse of this territory and their followers have joined hands to develop this land through conciliation, adding to the richness of the culture of this territory.
The introduction of Islam to Iran not only did not create any obstacle in the way of peaceful coexistence among its inhabitants, but also through supporting the free activities of the followers of Abrahamic religions, indeed guaranteed the social life of the followers of these religions in this realm. This is why in this territory, one would witness side of each other.
The Center for Interreligious Dialogue of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization – as the dialogue with other international organizations – is offering a precious report of this cultural spirit of the land of Iran.
The present book is an illustrated report and narration of this issue.
I hope my colleagues in this department will succeed in their endeavors and hope that all the followers of religions across the world live in pace and promote tolerance and promote peaceful coexistence among followers of all religions.
