On Monday, May 25, 2023, the unveiling ceremony of the book “Great Persons of Persian Language and Literature in the Arab World” was held in the “Gooshe Naghd” hall of the exhibition with the presence of Zahra Ameri, the author of the book, Seyed Ali Mousavizadeh, advisor to the president of Saadi Foundation, Abbas Khameyar, the cultural and social deputy of Qom University of Religions and Denominations, and Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Asadi Mowahed, CEO of Al-Hoda International Publications.
Abbas Khameyar, cultural and social deputy of Qom University of Religions and Denominations, began by saying about the book that Iran has preserved its language after being in the territory of Islam. This language is now the second language of the Islamic world. Today, the Persian language is considered the language of the Islamic revolution. We have different capacities to introduce our civilization, knowledge, culture and art to the world, and in fact, the Persian language currently has more than 340 seats worldwide and is taught as a specialized subject in universities around the world, but we have not been able to do it as well as we should and maybe because of this. Use capacities.
He added: We have strong competitors in countries with job markets. Another point is the problem of translation between our country and the Arab countries. Translation between Iran and the Arab countries is stagnant; therefore, we are not aware of the intellectual developments of the Arab countries, and the Arab countries are not aware of the intellectual developments of our country. Sustainability literature has a lot to say and has found its place inside the country, but has not yet been introduced to other countries as it should, and the works of our contemporary poets have not yet been introduced to the world.
Khameyar continued: We have lost many capable translators and must have replacements. Current alternatives are very limited. We must respect this limited number of translators.
He suggested that it is better for us not to rely solely on the public sector in Persian language education and to bring the private sector into the field. Many Persian language teachers abroad are non-Iranians and cannot show the beauty of the Persian language well.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Asadi Mowahed, CEO of Al-Hoda International Publications, said: The absence of sources such as “Great Persons of Persian Language and Literature in the Arab World” is evident in our elite society. Introducing people who have served in the Persian language is an outstanding work and should be continued.
He added: that Persian words also exist in African languages. Today the Persian language is associated with our religious culture and literature. Therefore, if we can present our poetry to the world, we can convey the culture of Iran and Islam to the people of other countries.
Zahra Ameri, the author, said: I think I wrote this book mainly because of the emptiness I’ve felt as a professional over the last few years. Therefore, we need to introduce Persian teachers to the world. My collection is not only an introduction to the Persian masters in the Arabian world but rather an analysis of the work of these masters.
She added: For the first time, I tried to launch the trend of knowing the communication between Persian language professors.
Acknowledging Abbas Khameyar, she states: We are not very good at translating our works into Arabic or translating Arabic works into Persian.
